Welcome to our new members

What a great start to the new term with something like seven new members! Welcome all of you and we hope you enjoy playing at the club.

However, we still have the capacity for more members, so it would be great if people are able to put up a few copies of the attached poster. If anyone has the opportunity to put out a pile of leaflets anywhere please let me know and I’ll get some A5 ones sorted for you.

Don’t forget our Facebook page which we have had for a while. If you use Facebook then please like and share the page to help spread the word about the club.

Our new website is already getting quite a few hits. As well as providing lots of information for potential new members, if you use the subscription button on the website you will get an email version of any posts on the News page – such as details of term dates or reminders to pay your fees!

The holidays are over!

Just in case you weren’t aware, we started our Autumn term of badminton sessions yesterday and it was great to welcome three new players – Jamie, John and Rich. We hope you enjoyed yourselves and will be joining the club.

As always with a new term it’s time to pay to play! Payment by bank transfer is preferred please, just remember to put your name as the reference. See the Fees page for more details.

Olympic Bronze for Men’s Doubles

Congratulations to Marcus Ellis and Chris Langridge, who won a bronze medal in the badminton men’s doubles.
ellislangridgebronzeThe world No 22 pair only started playing together in 2014 and won Team GB’s first ever medal in the event.

They beat Chai Biao and Hong Wei of China, who are ranked 5th in the world, 21-18, 19-21 and  21-10. A video replay went in their favour to give them the match point in a decisive third game.

We might not have any budding Olympic champions at the club, but don’t let that put you off. You can still come along and enjoy a some great games of badminton. Why not come along and see for yourself?
